Tell me what to nominate for the Hugos!

Seriously. Help meeeee.

As previously mentioned, I read a lot of books last year, but most of them were not published in 2014. As of right now, I only have three things on my “NOMINATE THIS” list.

  1. Kaleidoscope: Diverse YA Science Fiction and Fantasy Stories, eds. Alisa Krasnostein and Julia Rios, because good grief that was a good anthology.
  2. Goblin Emperor, by Katherine Addison, because it’s now one of my favourite books of all time.
  3. The Birthday Unending, written (curated?) by Seanan McGuire, because it started as a joke and turned into a celebration of life and love despite lost. And also there is a kraken. (I know this makes no sense. You kinda had to watch it unfold. I’m nominating ANYWAYS. Some posts collected here if you want to go down the rabbit hole.)

I have a month and a bit to do reading before nominations close. What should I make sure not to miss?

I’m really into Hotblood, if comics are allowed. (I’m pretty sure the comic was published in 2014…) But for books… Eliza Robertson’s Wallflowers is fantastic, along with Alice Hoffman’s The Museum of Extraordinary Things.

Comics are definitely allowed. (That’s what the graphic novel category is for.) I’ll look for those! Thanks.
